Herbal Holiday Gifts Workshop
October 12 | 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Atlanta Public Museum, Event Hall, 114 SW Arch St., Atlanta, IL 61723
Are you a homesteader or gardener with an abundant herbal harvest and wondering what to do next? The urge to plant herbs in spring is strong, and by summer or fall, your garden is brimming with plants ready to be harvested. But how can you preserve their freshness and transform them into something special?

Join Amy Wertheim of Wertheim's Gardens in Atlanta, IL, and Nick Frillman, University of Illinois Extension Educator, for a hands-on Herbal Holiday Gifts Workshop on October 12th from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM.

Amy, with years of experience in herbal cultivation and preservation, will guide you through the best culinary, medicinal, and tea plants for your garden. She'll also share how to transform your herbal bounty into unique, handcrafted gifts—perfect for the holiday season.
During the workshop, you will learn how to:
  • Dry and preserve herbs to retain maximum flavor
  • Create infused oils for use in lotions, salves, and lip balms
  • Craft herbal products, including:
    • Culinary oils
    • Herbal vinegars
    • Herbal salts
    • Herbal teas
What's included:
  • All herbs for the class will be provided—no need to bring your own!
  • Participants will leave with several herbal creations, plus materials to continue experimenting at home.
Cost: $20 per participant.
Class size: Limited to 30 participants. If there’s enough interest, a second session may be added in the morning.
