Strengthen farm management decisions by attending the Joliet Agronomy Summit 

University of Illinois Extension is holding the annual Oglesby Agronomy Summit this winter to provide producers with the latest agronomic research updates and equip them with information that will empower them in their farm decision-making.

Continuing education units are available for Certified Crop Advisers up to five CEUs at this in-person event. The cost to attend is $30, and registration is required by Jan. 31. Registration includes all presentations and lunch.

Joliet Agronomy Summit Presentations

Digital Agriculture and New Technologies, Dennis Bowman

  • Review advances with new technologies in agriculture, specific to row cropping systems.

Update on Disease Management in Corn and Soybeans, Boris Camiletti

  • Discuss current diseases in corn and soybeans. The session will present data from current research fungicide trials and inform on best management practices.

Nutrients and Physiology in Corn and Soybeans, Gio Preza Fontes

  • The discussion will include corn and soybean nutrient needs as well as physiological findings from the previous season.

Dealing with Wind and Water in Illinois, Trent Ford

  • The session discusses the 4 "D’s" of wind and water extremes in Illinois: derechos, dust storms, drought, and deluge, and highlights soil and water management strategies to deal with these impactful events.

Agricultural Economics, Nick Paulson, farmdoc

  • The session will provide updates on the state of corn and soybean economics.

Expanding from one event in northern Illinois to now eight, Illinois Extension Agronomy Summits are touring throughout the state in winter 2026. Attendees can expect sessions filled with the latest research updates from crop science experts at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, Illinois Extension, as well as additional university and industry professionals.
