Bold Conversations: Racial Healing with Social & Emotional Learning Online Discussion #4

Event Date(s)

Bold Conversations helps parent learn ways to have meaningful and important discussions with their children around race. The social and emotional learning seminars bring parents together, in a relaxed atmosphere, to have a respectful and honest exchange of ideas. Our hope is for parents to walk away with insights and ideas, to feel comfortable helping their children navigate the current cultural and political climate. Our goal is for parents to help their children feel happy, empowered, and confident because they have a better understanding of who they are and how they fit in the world around them.

Participants will engage in conversations connected to recent national and local events and cover topics related to:

  • White Privilege and Power
  • Racial Constructs and Identity
  • Social and Emotional Learning
  • Microaggressions and Implicit Bias

Sponsors: The University of Illinois School of Social Work and Illinois Extension in Cook County.

The final session begins at 6 PM January 19. If you will need an accommodation in order to participate, please email the contact person for the event at 708-449-4320. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
