Gardening is for you.

Gardeners' Gathering is all about inspiring your gardening passions, whether it is a pot on a sunny windowsill or an acre of crops. Illinois Extension supports every plant person who wants to discover a new trick or tip in gardening. Woodford County Master Gardeners invite you to join a morning filled with gardening opportunities.

Discover many gardening trends. Find what is right for you.

Create stunning landscapes with native trees and shrubs.

Jacob Kuban, owner of Auburn Acres Native Plant Nursery in Roanoke will open the morning with ‘Native Shrubs and Trees’. Many of our native shrubs and trees offer great year-round interest in the landscape, including stunning colors. Jacob will share his favorite natives that remind us that the seasons are changing.

Think outside the box, or gourd, with Gourdgeous Gourds.

Growing and playing with gourds offers endless opportunities! Learn tips on gourd growing and the simple steps of creating a birdhouse from Tazewell County Master Gardener, Suzanne Cook. How will you get creative with a good ol' gourd?

Bring a main course to life with herb additions.

Jenna Smith, U of I Extension Nutrition & Wellness Educator, will offer tips to enhance the flavor of food using herbs while reducing a recipe's salt and sugar. Participants will leave with tips and recipe cards to grow, buy, and store flavorful herbs and spices that brighten dishes for a healthy and delicious meal.

Dust off the sill and adorn it with an indoor herb collection.

Woodford County Master Gardeners will close the day sharing how to grow fresh, flavorful herbs indoors to add some green to your home and zest to your recipes. Master Gardeners will share tips to successfully grow herbs indoors. Attendees will learn tips on successfully growing herbs indoors and they will plant their own herb garden to start growing those herbs at home.

A $30 registration fee includes morning refreshments, 3 workshops, and a herb garden container filled with culinary herbs. Check-in and light refreshments will be available at 8:30 a.m., with the workshops beginning at 9 a.m.

If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in person, please call the McLean County Extension Office at 309-663-8306. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting access needs.
