EUREKA, Ill. – Creating a unique winter landscape full of colors, textures, and movement is as simple as choosing plants with interesting characteristics. Discover a variety of plants to add dazzling winter interest to your landscape at the University of Illinois Extension Woodford County Master Gardeners’ annual ‘Gardeners Gathering- Bridging the Seasons: Fall to Winter & Winter Interest in Your Yard’ on Saturday, November 2 from 10 a.m. to Noon, at the Minonk City Hall Community Room.
Gardeners Gathering is designed to inspire, educate, and encourage gardeners, whether they have a balcony and a sunny window or an acre to grow. This educational event is for all who love plants and are eager to discover new gardening tips while having fun. The two seasonal presentations include:
Plants with Winter Interest
Be inspired to create a beautiful and engaging outdoor space to enjoy year-round presented by Bill Inks, owner of AB Hatchery & Garden Center in Bloomington. Learn how to select and design plants to enhance landscapes during the cold months. Discover strategies for creating winter garden focal points, such as using containers or incorporating architectural elements that can withstand winter conditions.
Dried Flower Swags
The Woodford County Master Gardeners will lead you in a hands-on workshop, where you’ll create a charming swag using dried flowers and natural materials. This beautiful decoration is perfect for adorning your front door and adding a touch of nature to your home. Learn which flowers and plants make the best-dried materials…and a few to avoid!!
A $20 registration fee includes light refreshments, 2 workshops, and materials for the dried flower swag. Check-in and refreshments will begin at 9:45 a.m., with the workshops starting at 10 a.m. The program will be hosted at the Minonk City Hall Community Room, located at 670 North Chestnut, Minonk, IL.
