Dr. Christopher Wirz is based in the Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication (ALEC) Program. He is a social scientist studying risk and science communication. This means he studies how people communicate and make decisions, as well as how we can develop more effective communication systems and pathways. His current research focuses on communication among different decision makers and the public in the face of environmental risks and technologies. His recent work has focused on weather and climate hazards and the development of use-inspired AI for environmental decision making. He is also expanding this work to focus on food and agricultural systems.

His areas of expertise include risk communication, science communication, decision making, social science, weather, artificial intelligence, emerging technology, and environmental hazards.
