The poverty simulation experience is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. You can participate as a volunteer or participant; both provide an enriching experience that invites you to become sensitized to the realities faced by low-income people.
As a volunteer, you can sign up for a variety of roles "working" for the community and interacting with participants. As a participant, you play the role of an adult or child in a family and talk with volunteers, gaining deeper insight into what it might be like to interact with different community members.
