On Wednesday, February 25th, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, come to the Refuge Food Forest (701 E Lincoln St, Normal, IL. 61761) and learn the basics of grape and other small fruits pruning techniques. Dormant season pruning of small fruits is an essential component of successful small fruits production and management that has extensive plant health benefits. Additional small fruit crops covered besides grapes will include thornless blackberry and black currant.
This program is FREE to attend, but registration is required. Please don't register if you are not for sure you plan to attend (barring any dangerous weather).
Participants are highly encouraged to monitor the weather and dress accordingly. If participants have pruning tools they will be using at home to address unkempt small fruit plants, they should bring those to this event to become familiar with the tools they will use at home. Isopropyl alcohol mini-spray bottles will be provided by the Educator for intermittent sanitation of tools.
