Amanda Anderson is the North Cook County Master Gardener Program Coordinator with University of Illinois Extension. In this role, she supports volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and horticulture education across North Cook County, collaborating with libraries, schools, park districts, and community organizations to expand access to gardening education and food-growing resources.
Amanda brings an interdisciplinary background in conservation, interpretation, and community-based education. She earned her undergraduate degree from Purdue University and is a Certified Interpretive Guide and Master Naturalist. Amanda is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies, with academic interests in restoration ecology, wetland science, and the human dimensions of conservation. She is especially passionate about school and community gardens, food security initiatives, native plant education, and building inclusive, collaborative programs that respond to local community needs.
