Kristin TePas works to increase Great Lakes literacy across the basin by collaborating with formal and nonformal educators with Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant. She develops, delivers and evaluates Great Lakes programming for educators and leads  the Shipboard Science Immersion that takes place annually on EPA’s research vessel, the Lake Guardian for the Center for Great Lakes Literacy. Kristin also works closely with Janice Milanovich to provide educators with aquatic science resources, including the Limno Loan program and Students Ask Scientists. In addition, she helps organize IISG’s community engagement internship program, coordinating with partners to host undergraduate summer interns.

Previously, Kristin conducted aquatic invasive species outreach and environmental education. She has an M.E.M. in coastal environmental management from Duke University and a B.A. in psychology from the University of Notre Dame. She is a member of the International Association of Great Lakes Research, Great Lakes Educators of Aquatic and Marine Science, and the Environmental Education Association of Illinois.
